Overview
Michael counsels and assists businesses and business owners, property owners, developers, and contractors in developing cost-effective solutions to complex business, real estate, and construction disputes. He has extensive experience litigating – and favorably resolving – disputes involving commercial contracts, business and corporate matters, commercial landlord-tenant issues, title to property and easements, construction claims, delays and liens, claims of nondisclosure and fraud, and eminent domain and condemnation.
- Served as lead trial counsel in multiple business litigation matters arising out of the untimely passing of a San Diego-based entrepreneur, totaling in excess of $100 million in claims.
- Served as trial counsel in litigation concerning a $9-billion mixed-use real estate development project in Las Vegas, Nevada, involving $500 million in contractor mechanics lien claims.
- Served as co-lead trial counsel and obtained a defense award and a nearly $1-million attorney-fee award in arbitration involving an upscale steakhouse restaurant operation in San Diego, California.
- Prosecuted $39 million in delay and defect claims arising out of the construction of the luxury residential component of a mixed-use downtown high-rise in Los Angeles, California.
- Prosecuted $30 million in delay and defect claims arising out of the renovation of a high-end boutique hotel in San Diego, California.
- Served as lead trial counsel in numerous eminent domain matters in Orange and San Bernardino Counties.
