Silicon Valley – Three Procopio attorneys in the firm’s Silicon Valley office have been recognized by their peers as 2021 Northern California Super Lawyers. Receiving the honor this year are Partners Mindy Morton and Tyler Paetkau, and Of Counsel Brooke Oliver. Each year, no more than 5% of the lawyers in the state of California are named a Super Lawyer.

Mindy Morton was recognized for Intellectual Property Litigation; this is her seventh consecutive year earning the recognition. She litigates cutting-edge cases at the intersection of technology and free speech issues. Mindy defends internet companies against defamation, copyright, trademark and related claims on First Amendment, Communications Decency Act Section 230, DMCA and US SPEECH Act grounds. She also helps clients resolve disputes involving trade secret, patent, trademark, copyright, computer fraud and complex commercial litigation.

Tyler Paetkau was recognized for Labor and Employment Law; he has received this recognition multiple times since 2004. His practice includes defending employers against claims of wrongful termination, discrimination, retaliation, sexual harassment, defamation, wage and hour violations, unpaid commissions, collective and class actions, and unfair labor practice charges. Tyler also represents employers in litigation involving unfair competition, misappropriation of trade secrets, restrictive covenants, and employee mobility issues, and has extensive experience representing employers in union-management labor relations matters.

Brooke Oliver was recognized for Intellectual Property Law; like Mindy, this is her seventh consecutive year earning the recognition. Brooke is regularly sought out as one the nation’s leading experts on the Visual Artists’ Rights Act and served as co-chair of a national Visual Arts & the Law Conference for twelve years. She has lectured on art law in the U.S., Mexico, and Rome. Brooke has been called “a folk hero of copyright law” for her role in landmark court decisions that protect visual artists. Brooke has also been victorious at the U.S. Supreme Court twice. She is a recent addition to Procopio.

Earlier this year, 19 Procopio attorneys in 12 practice areas were named San Diego Super Lawyers or Rising Stars.
