October 16, 2023 (San Diego): Four Procopio attorneys—Partners Bill Eigner, Jeff Morton, and Sara Neva and Senior Counsel Jennifer Trowbridge–have been named 2023 Leaders in Law by the San Diego Business Journal (SDBJ). The list comprises some of San Diego’s most influential and experienced law firm and in-house attorneys, and is selected by an outside group of legal experts assembled by SDBJ.
Bill counsels clients in the areas of venture capital, angel financing, seed capital and financing, governing, operating, buying, selling and merging (M&A) of growing technology and other businesses. His practice focuses on corporate and business transactions, including matters relating to software, telecommunications, e-commerce, cybersecurity, energy, clean technology, life sciences, corporate governance, franchising, employment and independent contractor issues. Bill also has extensive experience in intellectual property protection, competitive business practices, securities and business structuring and financing, as well as mergers and acquisitions, contractual and political issues involving telecommunications and independent power producers. He is recognized by Best Lawyers® in Corporate Governance Law, Corporate Law, and Mergers & Acquisitions.
Sara counsels clients on real estate, finance and general business transactions. Her practice involves real estate property purchase and sale, commercial leases and easements, joint venture formation and other equity investments, financing, land use and entitlements. Sara is experienced with developers, builders, lenders, borrowers, commercial real estate investors, entrepreneurs, non-profit organizations and commercial landlords and tenants. She is on the Best Lawyers® Ones to Watch and Super Lawyers® Rising Stars lists for Real Estate Law. Other SDBJ honors Sara has received include Women of Influence in Law (2021-2023), Next Top Business Leader under 40 (2020), and Leaders in Law Rising Star (2019).
Jennifer focuses on a wide array of corporate law, including securities law, corporate finance, mergers & acquisitions, and Exchange Act reporting and compliance. She represents public and private companies, investment funds and underwriters in regards to federal and state securities laws and investment and capital-raising transactions such as PIPEs, private equity, debt and venture capital transactions & SPACs. Her services include public and private offerings (Regulation D, etc.), registration of securities (Forms S-1, S-8, etc.), and filing compliance with mergers, acquisitions, stock and asset purchases (Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, etc.). She also assists clients such as investment advisers, broker-dealers and investment firms with registration and on-going SEC and state compliance. She is on the Super Lawyers® Rising Stars list for Securities & Corporate Finance. Other SDBJ awards include Top 50 Leaders of Influence LGBTQ+ (2023) and Women of Influence in Law (2021).
Jeff provides strategic intellectual property advice, including patent prosecution, and related transactional support for emerging and mature companies in a wide variety of industries, with a particular focus on life sciences and medical technologies.
