International tax planning
We regularly help our multinational clients minimize their U.S. income, withholding, estate, gift and inheritance tax obligations by employing a wide array of planning techniques. We help plan for and resolve international tax controversies and develop international wealth preservation structures to complement the client’s international investments and business activities. Our attorneys provide individuals, families and businesses that have or are considering investments in the U.S. with sophisticated analysis of the tax implications of foreign ownership of domestic equities and real estate. We frequently advise clients on the use of tax-favorable jurisdictions and international income and gift and estate tax treaties to reduce or eliminate worldwide taxes.Focus on Latin America and Asia
Procopio has long placed a special emphasis on Mexico and Latin America, regularly presenting major international conferences on cross-border tax issues and investing in Mexican real estate. Our international tax attorneys, a number of whom are licensed to practice in Mexico as well as in California, have the full range of expertise and experience to assist in the full range of transactions, investments, taxes and corporate issues that arise in connection with the business activities of our Latin American clients. Our international practice is not, however, limited to Latin America; we have extensive experience advising clients from throughout the world—particularly Asia—on various aspects of international and U.S. law. Working with clients doing business in Asian countries, we routinely provide counsel and representation in the areas of intellectual property; contract manufacturing; financing and investments; taxation; employee issues; business and financial transactions; and litigation.
