John J. Lormon, Esq. will present a background regarding international climate change agreements, such as the U.N. Framework Conventions on Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol, a review of historical national laws and regulations and a discussion of the proposed federal legislation and regulations, a summary of California's climate change legislation and initiatives, including Assembly Bill 32 and future regulations proposed by the Scoping Plan, emerging due diligence and SEC disclosure requirements to account for greenhouse gas emissions and climate change risks, and an overview of current climate change litigation with an outlook on likely future actions.

John J. Lormon is a partner with Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP. He is the leader of Procopio’s Environmental, Land Use and Governmental Affairs practice group and Climate Change and Sustainability practice area. Mr. Lormon has extensive experience working with local and state government regulatory agencies on permitting and private sector businesses in dealing with entitlement, compliance, CEQA and enforcement matters. He has managed numerous Clean Air Act cases involving stationary and mobile sources and has special expertise in air emission impacts to local communities. Currently, Mr. Lormon is a member of the Directors Cabinet for Scripps Institution of Oceanography and co-chair of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography’s Climate Task Force.
