Katherine Proctor is a patent agent registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is a Chartered Patent Agent in the United Kingdom. Ms. Proctor has over twenty five years of experience in the preparation and prosecution of U.S., international and foreign patent applications. She has prepared and prosecuted patents in a diverse range of technologies including telecommunications, optics, electronics, mechanical devices and machines, medical devices, and software. Ms Proctor also works with attorneys in the areas of patent litigation and infringement opinions.

Prior to joining Procopio, she worked as a patent agent with Gordon & Rees LLP for two years and also with Brown, Martin, Haller & McClain for eighteen years. Before coming to the United States, Ms. Proctor worked as a law clerk and patent agent in England and West Germany. From 1978 to 1981 she worked at R.G.C. Jenkins & Co., in Munich, Germany, as a Patent Agent and Munich Office Manager where she assisted with the opening of the Munich Office coincident with the opening of the European Patent Office in 1978. During that time she learned to speak and read German. For three years prior to her time with R.G.C. Jenkins & Co. she worked for Barker, Brettell and Duncan, a patent law firm in Birmingham, England, while studying for the UK patent bar.

Education, Distinctions & Community Involvement

Ms. Proctor received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of Birmingham. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents (U.K.), and a patent agent member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) and the San Diego Intellectual Property Law Association.
