Professional Summary

Mr. Ramseyer is head of the firm's Litigation Team and leader of the firm's Construction Practice Group. His practice emphasizes construction law and litigation. He is experienced in handling disputes arising on both public and private works of improvement, inclusive of contractual disputes, bid protests, mechanic liens, stop notice and payment bond claims, work out agreements, design professional errors and omissions, and delay, disruption and inefficiency claims. Mr. Ramseyer has represented general contractors, subcontractors, public and private owners and sureties in various matters over the course of his career. In June of 1993, Ramseyer was the principal founder of the law firm of Ramseyer & Kuhlman, APLC, where he worked until Ramseyer & Kuhlman merged with Procopio in May of 2001.

Education, Distinctions & Community Involvement

Craig A. Ramseyer received his undergraduate education from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio in 1978 and his law degree from the University of San Diego in 1981, where he was a Notes and Comments Editor for the San Diego Law Review. He was admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court, as well as the Central and Southern Districts of California in 1981. He was later admitted to practice in the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, U.S. Court of Federal Claims, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Ramseyer serves on the Panel of Arbitrators for the American Arbitration Association. He is also a member of the State Bar of California and the American Bar Association Forum on the Construction Industry.

Mr. Ramseyer was named in the 2007 and 2008 editions of Best Lawyers in America, and was selected for inclusion in the 2007 and 2008 editions of Southern California Super Lawyers® - San Diego.  In 2008, Mr. Ramseyer was named one of the Top 50 attorneys in San Diego by Super Lawyers.  He was also included on the list of Best Lawyers in San Diego by San Diego Magazine in 2007.  Mr. Ramseyer had the honor of being one of only 2 attorneys named in the Construction Law category.  He is also an AV rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. Ramseyer recently served on the Board of the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Diego and chaired the Ballfields Improvement Project for Torrey Pines High School, overseeing the fundraising, design and construction of new sports facilities.
