Education, Distinctions & Community Involvement

Andrew J. Kessler earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Colorado and was the 1998 honor graduate of the University's Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps. Prior to obtaining his Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law, Mr. Kessler served for 11 years in the United States Marine Corps, obtaining the rank of Captain. As a Marine, Mr. Kessler served as an intelligence officer, infantry officer, and scout/sniper platoon commander. While attending law school, he volunteered with at-risk youth, encouraging them to pursue higher education.

Mr. Kessler continues to be highly involved in the southern California community. He sits on the Board of Directors for the Arc of San Diego Foundation. The Arc is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower persons with disabilities, and their families, by working in partnership to create opportunities to achieve their individual goals within the community.

Additionally, Mr. Kessler sits on the Government Relations Committee of the Associated General Contractors of San Diego and is a committee members of the Military Support Network through the University Club of San Diego.

Mr. Kessler is also the Vice President of Homefront San Diego in affiliation with the Navy League. Homefront San Diego is a nonprofit organization that provides emergency assistance to our military, to the families they leave behind, and to wounded warriors when they return home. The organization consists of more than 2,500 volunteers in 26 chapters nationwide.

He is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
